How to track and rate movies

CinemaTrove keeps your watched movies, ratings, reviews, and watchlist in one account. Here’s how to get started.

You need an account to save movies. You can read this guide and browse movies without signing in.

1. Add a movie you’ve watched

  1. Sign in and open My Movies, then choose Add movie.
  2. Search for the movie and check its title and release year before selecting it.
  3. Choose I watched it. Enter the date under Watched on, or leave it blank if you don’t remember.
  4. Add an optional rating and review, then choose Add movie. If you left the date blank, the button says Add to watched.

A movie without a date still appears in your watched collection. Only dated viewings appear in your watch history.

2. Rate a movie or change your rating

Ratings run from 0.5 to 5 stars in half-star steps. When adding a movie, select the left half of a star for a half-star rating or the right half for a full star. With a keyboard, focus the rating and use the arrow keys to choose a value.

To change a saved rating, open the movie in My Movies and select a new value under Your rating. If it has no rating yet, choose Add a rating. You can also use Edit movie to update your review.

Your personal rating is separate from the community average. Watching a movie again does not give you extra votes in that average. Read how member ratings work.

3. Save movies to watch later

In Add movie, find a movie and choose Add to watchlist instead of I watched it. Confirm with Add to watchlist. This saves it for later without recording a viewing or requiring a rating.

Open the Watchlist section in My Movies to see your saved movies. When you watch one, open its details and add a viewing. Saving to a watchlist keeps a reference to the movie, not a downloadable video.

4. Record another viewing

Open a watched movie in My Movies and choose Log another watch. Enter the new date and any optional rating, review, or private viewing note, then choose Save rewatch.

Each dated viewing is a separate entry. The movie’s details show its watch count and viewing dates. Open Watch history from the navigation to see dated viewings across your movies.

Use Edit movie to correct an existing entry. Use Log another watch when you want to record a new viewing.
