Import IMDb ratings into CinemaTrove

Bring movie titles and your IMDb ratings into CinemaTrove from an IMDb ratings CSV export.

Choose a CSV to preview

CinemaTrove will ask you to sign in or create an account before opening the importer.

How to import

  1. Open your ratings on IMDb and use the available export option to download the ratings CSV.
  2. Choose the downloaded CSV in CinemaTrove.
  3. Review the detected titles and ratings before you confirm the import.

Supported fields

CSV fieldWhat CinemaTrove does
ConstUses the IMDb title identifier to find the corresponding movie in TMDB.
Title and YearUsed as a fallback when an IMDb identifier is unavailable.
Your RatingConverts IMDb's 1 to 10 rating to CinemaTrove's 0.5 to 5 scale.
GenresImported as a personal genre override when present.

Not imported

  • IMDb watchlists, reviews, check-ins, and lists
  • Date Rated as a viewing date, because a rating date does not prove when a movie was watched
  • IMDb's public audience rating and vote count

Matching and validation

CinemaTrove accepts CSV files smaller than 2 MB with up to 500 movie rows. It validates the columns, rating scale, and date format before showing a preview.

TMDB IDs and IMDb IDs are checked against TMDB. Rows without an identifier must match the same title and release year. A row is skipped when CinemaTrove cannot make a safe match.

CinemaTrove imports only your rating. It does not present IMDb audience scores as CinemaTrove member ratings.

CinemaTrove does not sign in to IMDb or scrape IMDb pages.

File privacy

Your CSV is read for the preview and is not retained as an uploaded file. Previewing does not write movie data to your account. Supported rows are saved only after you confirm the import.

Movie identifiers, titles, and years may be sent to TMDB for matching. Your email address, ratings, reviews, and viewing dates are not sent to TMDB.

Read the privacy policy for more information about account data.
