How popular movies are ranked
Popular movies are ranked by the number of CinemaTrove members who watched them recently.
Time period
The Popular page uses viewing activity recorded by CinemaTrove members during the most recent 30 calendar days. It does not use TMDB popularity, streaming charts, ticket sales, or activity from another movie site.
How viewers are counted
Each member who records at least one viewing of a movie during the period counts once toward that movie’s popularity.
Repeat viewings still appear in the member’s watch history and play count. They do not give that member extra weight in the Popular ranking.
Ranking order
Movies with more distinct recent viewers appear first. When two movies have the same number of viewers, the movie with more recent activity appears first. The ranking changes as new viewings are added and older ones leave the 30-day period.
What the ranking means
Popular measures recent activity on CinemaTrove. It is not a quality score or a claim about the wider movie market. Counts may be small while the CinemaTrove community is growing.
